Risk Factors for Suicidal Ideation in Children & Adolescents

The presentation has a mix of local and national statistics about reported risk factors for children and youth aged 6-18 as well as suicide rates. I will also share common self/parent reported risk factors that have been in safety plans with the children and youth I have worked with throughout Salt Lake County. The end of the presentation goes over interventions and ways professionals and families can help implement more protective factors while being aware of and eliminating possible risk factors for suicide.

I enjoy social work and have been in this field for the past 7 years. I have worked mostly with women, children, and families in different settings such as a DV shelter, Refugee Services, and inpatient/outpatient facilities. Since graduating with my MSW from UVU in 2019 I have worked for Valley Behavioral Health in the Children Youth and Families Clinic and only recently left to start working for LifeStance Health.
