Telehealth Across State Lines

The social work profession does not have an interstate compact yet. NASW is working with other organizations to build one but it has not been released yet. Because of this, when treating a client who is not physically in Utah, you will need to review licensing requirements for the state the client is physically located during the time of the session. This means that if a client lives in Utah but travels to Colorado briefly and is in Colorado during the time of the session, you will have to make sure you follow Colorado licensing laws in order to see them. Some states do offer temporary licenses for these cases.
